The Hoi An Center for Monuments Management and Preservation has completed a survey and announced a list of 80 ancient wells in Hoi An, the ancient town bathed in the glistening lights of colored lanterns and surrounded by ancient heritages in the central province of Quang Nam. The authorities then initiated plans to preserve the relics that are hundreds of years old and a part of the spiritual life of Hoi An residents.

People know Hoi An City is a world cultural heritage site with ancient houses and an ancient town. To me, spending a day in Hoi An, I find out that the city is worth to visit not only by its ancient cultural and historical works but also by rustic images of craft villages living hard with ups and downs of modern life, embankments which is always bustling with noise of tourists as well as traders, and old streets blanked in shimmering rays of lanterns as well as images of whe-re local people are always gentle and hospitable with a great smile on their faces.

On March 18, 2011, the campaign for sending messages, encouraging Japanese people enduring consequences of earthquake and tsunami was drawed hundreds of people presenting at Japanese Brigde area (Hoi An, Quang Nam).

It has become quieter in Hoi An now. The 1st Vietnam International Choir Festival and Competition is over, most of the choirs left the city yesterday. Today the INTERKULTUR staff will fly back home as well.

Ten choirs were competing in the Folklore category yesterday evening in Hoi An. Although it’s getting warmer and it hardly rains, the competition couldn’t be held on the Open Air Stage as planned, but had to be in the Competition Hall at Hoi An Beach Resort, whe-re all other competitions are taking place, too.
