On October 31, 2023, the UNESCO Creative Cities Network Secretariat has designated Hội An - Vietnam’s next representative as an official member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for the field of Crafts and Folk Art. This is the great honor and pride of the people of Hội An in particular, of Quảng Nam and Vietnam in general.

The people of Hoi An love eating out, in particular street food. And this passion for the latter isn't just any random habit, but in fact history-based. In the 16th -19th centuries, Hoi An was one of Asia's primary trading ports. As such, the place was frequently visited by foreign traders from such countries as China, Holland, Portugal, Japan, and practically all over the world. Since these merchants had to eat especially after a whole day of working along the waterside, the locals thought of selling food to these traders without them having to leave their place of business. Thus, the birth of street food.

Hoi An Ancient Town, Quang Nam Province, is an ancient town retained almost intact with more than 1000 architectural relics from streets, houses, congresses, communal houses, temples, and wells to the traditional food, the soul of the people here. Especially, Hoian will fascinate tourists by its timeless beauty from little things in the corner of Hoian streets. When traveling to Hoi An, tourists should choose the time from February to April annually because this time is less rainy, and relatively not sunny as summer, but pleasant and airy.

After the success of previous events; this year, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam continue to coordinate with the People’s Committee of Quảng Nam province, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quảng Nam province and the People’s Committee of Hội An city to hold “Korean Cultural Days in Quảng Nam”, Hội An, 2019. The program will take place on November 16th & 17th, 2019 with cultural and recreational activities which bear the identity of South Korea.

Nguyen Tieu festival is held on the fisrt full moon day of the lunar new year which has many spiritual meanings to the people of Hội An. It is an opportunity for the local people to express their respect to the ancestors and pray for a peaceful and prosperous new year. This day is also considered as a blessing days when the gods come to bless all the people. With such belief, the people of Hội An always celebrate worshipping ceremony and decorate their house on this occasion.

Hội An-Japan Cultural Exchange has been an annual event since 2003.
After 13 years of organizing, the event has gained the great effect attracting public attention and left a deep impression in the hearts of the participants. Thereby, it has contributed to enhance the mutual understanding and strengthen the friendship between the people of Hoi An and Japan.
