“Earth hour 2019 save energy – save earth”

Earth Hour is an annual environmental campaign organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights.
In 2019, with the theme of "Save energy, save earth", the event aims to deliver a message that energy use in manufacturing and living is one of the factor that causes climate change, affecting to natural environment and species’ life on Earth.

With an orientation of building Hoi An as an ecological, cultural and tourist city as well as a peaceful and eco-friendly destination; Hoi An is one of the localities participating in the Earth Hour campaign from the first year in Vietnam (2009). The success achieved in recent years from responding to Earth Hour is gaining people’s awareness on the importance of natural environmental protection. Environmental protection activities in Hoi An have been become regular and more effective by the collaboration between local community and tourists: One hour for a cleaner Hoi An, green business, replacing plastic products with friendly-to-environment materials, cleaning and recycling campains, etc.
In response to Earth Hour 2019, Hội An city will hold many practical activities including switching off non-essential lights throughout the city from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 30th 2019, art performances, music exchange for the 18th death anniversary of Trinh Cong Son, especially for those visting Hoi An on this day will have a chance to get special offers from eco-stores here.
