Hội An has always defined “Creative City” not as a title but as a mission to fulfill commitments, bring values ​​and benefits to the community, which is one of the crucial premises for the city's sustainable development. In particular, this opens up opportunities for Hội An to expand relationships, increase international cooperation, access global knowledge sources, and promote creative values ​​for sustainable development, while also preserving and promoting its unique cultural identity.
Hội An city will organize a Conference themed “Policies and resources for building and developing Hội An - A UNESCO Creative City” on June 14, 2024 in Sông Hoài Square (No. 01 Cao Hồng Lãnh street, Hội An city) to discuss and prepare for implementing the set goals and tasks.
The Conference will be attended by delegates from the People's Committee of Quảng Nam province, the Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the UNESCO Office in Vietnam; co-chaired and attended by the leaders from the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies; along with delegates from departments and branches of Quảng Nam province, delegates from Hội An city, scientists, leading experts in development strategy research, cultural researchers, creative experts in related fields; as well as coordinated and accompanied by Hoianlife Innovation Lab.  
The Conference will review and assess the city's current situation of resources and potential in the field of crafts and folk art. It will also focus on research and discussion on proposals to build institutions and foster human resources, as well as propose directions and solutions in the management and development orientation of Hội An city as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
The Conference will cover topics such as Introducing some effective models of creative cities worldwide, making ideas and proposals for Hội An; highlighting Hội An's advantages and orientation in the international cooperation process as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, How to build an innovative startup ecosystem in Hội An, etc. among other practical topics. Through the Conference, Hội An will continue to consult and share experiences in preserving and promoting traditional values ​​in the fields of crafts, folk art, and creative culture. It will also orient solutions for city development, build brand promotion and positioning plans, as well as enhance future exchange and cooperation activities.
