Hoi An Ancient Town, located in Central Vietnam, was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1999. In 2023, it became an official member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of crafts and folk art.

On the occasion of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (on November 23rd), 24 years since Hoi An ancient town was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage (on December 4th, 1999-2023), 6 years of Bai Choi art Central Vietnam is registered by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity (on December 7th, 2017-2023), Hoi An city organizes a series of activities with the theme "Hoi An cultural heritage - Tradition, connection, creativity and development" takes place from November 21 - December 7, 2023 to serve people and tourists.

On December 7th 2017, at the 12th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Jeju (Korea), The art of Bài Chòi in Central Vietnam was officially inscribed in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
