Event information of the 21st anniversary of recognition of Hội An Ancient Town as World Cultural Heritage Site and the 3rd anniversary of recognition of The art of Bài Chòi in Central Vietnam as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

On the occasion of the 21st anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Hội An Ancient Town as World Cultural Heritage Site (4/12/1999 - 4/12/2020) and the 3rd anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of The art of Bài Chòi in Central Vietnam as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (7/12/2017 - 7/12/2020); Hội An city is ready to welcome visitors from near and far with many attractive cultural and recreational activities.

On December 3 and 4, 2020, activities such as Introduction “The timing masks - Transmission artisans”, “Traditional cuisine”, “Family music night” at Hội An museum (10B Trần Hưng Đạo street) and “Traditional art performance” at Japanese covered bridge area will contribute to introducing to visitors the cultural beauty which has deeply imprinted on the daily life of Hội An people.
On the morning of December 4, 2020, the running race “For The World Cultural Heritage of Hội An” will be held with the participation of a large number of people, visitors and foreigners living and working in Hội An. In particular, Hội An also facilitates visitors to participate and experience sightseeing activities in the ancient town and traditional occupation villages through “Offer free entrance” from December 1 to 4, 2020. Moreover, the celebration with special art performances will take place at 19:00 on December 3, 2020 at Japanese covered bridge area.
In addition, there are Talk shows “Preservation and promotion of heritage tourism in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic: problems and solutions”, “The role of women in promoting the attraction of heritage tourism”, “Residence and business situation at relics in Hội An Ancient Town in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic: situation and solutions”. At the same time, a photo exhibition titled “FLORIBUS” by Colombian artist - Monica Herran Restrepo will be held by the Embassy of Colombia at An Hội sculpture garden from December 3 to 6, 2020.
Commemorative activities on this occasion both stimulate Hội An tourism after a long period of being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and natural disasters such as storms and floods, and contribute to promoting the image of Hội An, raising people’s awareness on the preservation and promotion of heritage values and developing sustainable tourism in the coming time.
