Opening Ceremony of Trà Quế Vegetable Village experience and tourist attraction

Being located 2.5 km to the northeast of Hội An, Trà Quế is a traditional vegetable farming village which was formed over 400 years ago with a favorable geographical location, a long-term historical and cultural process and warm-hearted people. It is surrounded by Đế Võng River and Trà Quế Lagoon with fertile soil and a cool climate.
According to the elders, the original name of this village was “Nhự Quế”, which meant the fragrance of Cinnamon (in Vietnamese, it means “Quế”). At the beginning of the 18th century, there was a king of the Nguyễn dynasty who was traveling on Đế Võng River and heard rumors that the village had many strange herbs, so he decided to visit and enjoy. He found that there was a vegetable which was fragrant like the Camellia flower (in Vietnamese, it means “Trà”) and spicy like Cinnamon (in Vietnamese, it means “Quế”), so he renamed Nhự Quế to Trà Quế. It has been named this for more than 300 years until now.
