Information about the show "Hội An - The Colors of Silk"

In the 17th and 18th centuries, the famous Quảng Nam silk was exported all over the world via Hội An international commerce port. Thread spinning and silk weaving, as well as many other traditional occupations along the Thu Bồn river, have contributed to embellishing the multi-colored and multi-faceted cultural identity of Quảng Nam in general and Hội An in particular.

As a part of the Visit Vietnam Year 2022 - Quảng Nam 2022 series of activities, the show "Hội An - The Colors of Silk" will be held by Hội An city at the Bà Mụ Temple Gate (Hai Bà Trưng street, Hội An city), at 6 p.m., on November 26, 2022. As a result, it contributes to introducing and promoting the values of thread spinning and silk weaving of Quảng Nam land.
With the participation of Gami Joint Stock Company and Hội An Silk Village, the show is a blend of art performances and fashion shows featuring Hội An's silk collections. The audience will listen to stories about the Thu Bồn alluvial river, which provides lush mulberry fields; and about Tằm Tang's silk release, which enhances the color of the beautiful village picture; or about silk items manufactured with the enthusiasm and ardor of the people of Quảng Nam. These wonderful visuals will reoccur in the nostalgic setting of the show "Hội An - The Colors of Silk".
Coming to the show, the audience also admires the graceful and charming features of Vietnamese women in silk costumes from the early 20th century to the present. In the shimmering night, the silk Áo Dài fluttering in the breeze carries the gentle and elegant beauty of Hội An, Quảng Nam ladies; as well as the beauty of cultural interference with other countries in the context "on the wharf under the boat" of a busy commercial port of Hội An.
Silk production and trade in Hội An, Quảng Nam have seen ups and downs but are now being promoted. The show "Hội An - The Colors of Silk" is an opportunity to promote the image of Hội An World Cultural Heritage, intangible cultural heritages, and Hội An's handicraft production of silk and garments to the world; as well as develop new tourism products to attract tourists to Hội An. This is one of the platforms on which Hội An will be able to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the categories of handicrafts and folk art.
