Hoi An to reopen to visitors from June

The old town of Hoi An will reopen to visitors from June 1 according to local authorities.

Director of Hoi An City's Centre for Culture, Sports, Radio & Television, Truong Thi Ngoc Cam said that from June 1, the city will reorganise tours to the town, Tra Que Vegetable Village, and Thanh Ha Ceramic Village after its closure for Covid-19 prevention.


Some tourist sites in the city including the Bridge Pagoda, Ong Pagoda, Tra Que Vegetable Village, and Cam Thanh Coconut Forest reopened free to visitors from April 29.

On May 21, the Management Board of My Son Cultural Heritage announced that visitors to the UNESCO-recognised My Son Sanctuary in the central province of Quang Nam would enjoy a 30% discount on entrance tickets from June 1.

The discount is set to be applied for groups of from three visitors, while residents from Quang Nam Province will enjoy a 50% discount on entry tickets.

In addition, students will be entitled to a 50% discount with a service fee of VND30,000 per person, while students under the age of 16 are set to enjoy free entry to the site.

For a group of 10 or more visitors, a tour guide will be on hand to guide groups free of charge. Visitors will have the chance to snap photos alongside dancers who perform some of the traditional dances of the Cham ethnic people.

Furthermore, visitors will also be given a 10% discount when purchasing souvenir items at the gift shop located at the My Son Cham religious historical site.

This promotion programme is scheduled to run from June 1 to September 1.

The move comes as part of a wide-ranging tourism stimulus campaign which has been launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in an attempt to boost visitor numbers to tourist attractions across the country, including My Son.
